Reporting to the Vice President of Salon & Spa Development, the Spa Development Manager will contribute to the overall success of the company by motivating, inspiring and training consistency of service relative to daily operation by increasing retail, service and membership programs. 


General duties include, but are not limited to:



  • Involved in hiring of staff by conducting second level interview and overseeing the onboarding of all new spa employees;
  • Directly responsible for motivating staff to perform at their highest ability;
  • Carry out performance evaluations and disciplinary procedures in line with the Salon & Spa Directors;
  • Coach artists and therapists in achieving retail, service, client retention and membership goals;
  • Develop and/or improve processes which result in delivering consistent quality of service;
  • Contribute to training standards that support consistent quality of service through mentoring of trainers;
  • Inform and inspire spa staff to support spa initiatives;
  • Maintain awareness of spa services and products, weekly and monthly goals, promotions and special offers for the spa department;
  • Have a working knowledge of spa budget while maintaining guidelines of budget;
  • Monitor that OSHA and DOL standards are being maintained.

  • Ability to assess usage and maintain spa costs related to services;
  • Monitor inventory in terms of professional use and retail sales to ensure correct offering;
  • Ability to maximize bookings to ensure optimum use of scheduled hours;
  • Ability to work cohesively with all spa areas and co-workers as part of a team;
  • Strong communication, problem solving and organization skills;
  • Must be a self-starter that enjoys hands-on responsibilities, with a mind geared towards supporting and advocating for policies and procedures;
  • Passion for providing outstanding client service;
  • Ability to adapt to changing work environment/responsibilities;
  • Effective interpersonal and team skills;
  • Excellent interactive skills.

Education Requirements and Work Experience:


  • Minimum three years’ experience in a management role or training role in a spa environment;
  • Strong communication skills;
  • History of leadership;
  • Spa experience including treatment experience;
  • Working knowledge of federal, state and local laws relating to the spa industry;
  • Knowledge of client service principles and practices;
  • Demonstrated operating knowledge of computers. Intermediate level ability with Microsoft Office Suite, and other required software programs.
